Let Go … Let God

A couple of years ago, I was living in Nashville, TN, spending my days running up and down Music Row (which houses the large record companies and publishing companies), living the illusion of my dream. For the first 9 months I was there, I was fortunate to be a full-time intern at ASCAP, a performing-rights organization, and also at Big Loud Shirt Publishing. Those jobs kept me extremely busy and occupied. Later, when the internships were finished and life slowed down a bit, I realized just how incredibly homesick I was and how much I missed my family and Minnesota life. Continue reading

Thank God It’s Friday

So what will you be doing today? What’s going on for you? It is a Friday, and so lots of people will murmur “TGIF” under their breath, and they’ll step a little livelier because it is the end of their work week with the promise of some open time ahead of them for rest or relaxation, time with friends, or time to catch up on some household chores. Maybe some will catch a movie, while others will cull their DVR/TIVO list down a bit. Some will enjoy catching up on sleep. A few are absolutely itching to get out onto their yards to do some spring cleaning.

No matter our plans, though, we all carry an unusual sense that today is no ordinary Friday. Continue reading
