Give Thanks to a Teacher

The alarm goes off in the morning. How many of us at one time or another have heard our alarm clock go off and thought, “I just want to roll over and go back to sleep.” But for our preschool teachers here at FoC, that means you have to be in your classroom awake and ready to greet every student as they run or straggle in, morning after morning, day after day.

So why would anyone want to be a preschool teacher? An unknown author wrote this top ten list of reasons why one would want to become a preschool teacher:

10.  Cute little children….cute little paycheck.

9.  Confidence that you will never, ever forget to count to 10.

8.  Attention span…do they have one?

7.  Shoes that untie themselves.

6.  Get to sing your favorite songs over and over and over.

5.  With all this bending, who needs to work out?

4.  Play, play, play

3.  Classroom art proudly displayed in kitchen “galleries.”

2.  Small hands…LARGE crayons.

1.  You alone make little ones count.

And that #1 reason is all a teacher needs – to know that they make a difference in the life of a child.

Then Jesus said to them, “Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.”  ~ Luke 9: 48b

In this season of Thanksgiving, take the time to say thank you to a teacher. And try to live your life by making a difference to someone else.
